Temporary HV Site Power and Plug Mobile Substations
When permanent power is unavailable or delayed, PSS Power provides scalable temporary site power to keep operations moving.
Our capability includes Plug Mobile Substations and associated HV infrastructure, creating a coordinated temporary power system that can be deployed when and where it is needed.
Reliable Power When and Where it is Needed
Temporary power is not always a short-term generator and a set of cables. Larger or more demanding sites may require a carefully engineered high voltage system capable of supporting significant loads over an extended period.
We assess the site, required capacity and operating conditions before planning the most suitable temporary power installation. This may include a temporary substation, transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection systems and distribution equipment.
Plug Mobile Substations and Temporary Site Power Capabilities
Plug provides a different approach to temporary power where demand returns to the same site. A private 11kV network and connection points can remain in place, while Plug Mobile Substations are deployed, connected and energised when power is required.
Once the requirement ends, the substation can be removed while the underlying infrastructure remains ready for the next deployment.
Plug Mobile Substations
A relocatable 11kV substation incorporating HV switchgear, transformer, protection, LV distribution and temporary-power outlets, configured for the application.
Plug Mobile Substation deployment
Planning for the transport, positioning and connection of the Plug system within the wider temporary power installation.
Site Infrastructure and Preparation
Coordination of access, foundations, earthing and cable routes to prepare the site for the substation and associated equipment.
Designed Around the Demands of Your Site
Load requirements can change as a project progresses. Equipment may be added, working areas may move and different stages of construction or commissioning may place new demands on the power supply.
Our temporary site power systems are planned with these practical requirements in mind. The scale and configuration can be tailored to the site, helping customers maintain continuity without committing to permanent infrastructure before it is needed.
Supporting Planned and Recurring Power Requirements
Temporary power can support a wide range of requirements, from construction projects and planned outages to sites where demand returns at different times throughout the year.
Plug is particularly suited to recurring temporary loads, including events, sporting venues, seasonal attractions, film and television production, exhibitions and temporary hospitality. The underlying infrastructure can remain in place, ready for the next deployment. Plug – The Brochure
Initial Assessment to Temporary Energisation
Define the power requirement
Confirm the required capacity, voltage, duration, site conditions and equipment that the temporary site power system will need to support.
Design the system
Plan the temporary power installation, including the substation, transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection and distribution requirements.
Prepare the site
Coordinate access, foundations, cable routes, earthing and other infrastructure needed to accommodate the equipment.
Install and commission
Position the Plug Mobile Substation and associated equipment before testing and commissioning the complete system.
Support and remove
Provide ongoing technical support where required, then disconnect and remove the temporary infrastructure when it is no longer needed.
Discuss your Temporary Site Power Requirements
Talk to PSS Power about your required capacity, project programme and site constraints. We can help plan a coordinated temporary electrical supply, including containerised substations, HV cabling and the wider temporary power installation.
